Das Teilprojekt hat die ethnografische Untersuchung und partizipative Gestaltung autonomie-fördernder medialer Infrastrukturen für alternde Gesellschaften zum Ziel. Forschungsgegenstand sind Praktiken der Medienaneignung und Mediengestaltung für und mit ältere/n Menschen, deren An- und Zugehörige, ehrenamtlich Tätige und professionelle Kräfte in Pflege und Medizin.
In der ersten Projektphase standen grundlegende sozio-technische Aspekte der kooperativen Gestaltung von Aneignungsinfrastrukturen in der Verschränkung mit Medienpraktiken im Fokus. In der zweiten Projektphase werden die initialen Forschungsfragen auf Community-basierte Co-Produktions- und Aneignungsaspekte von Sorgegemeinschaften überführt, in denen neue Formen der kooperativen Pflege und Versorgung entwickelt werden. In Kooperationen mit lokalen Schweizer Caring Community-Initiativen werden in einem partizipativen bottom-up Prozess Gestaltungsbedingungen erforscht und analoge und digitale Medien kooperativ konzipiert und verfertigt. Vergleichend werden Community-basierte Initiativen zur Versorgung und Pflege älterer Menschen in Deutschland untersucht und passgenaue mediale Infrastrukturen entwickelt, die Kooperationsbeziehungen stärken und die Nutzerautonomie fördern.
