James McElvenny ist Linguist und Wissenschaftshistoriker mit Schwerpunkt Geschichte der modernen Linguistik. Nach der Promotion an der Universität Sydney war er Postdoc-Stipendiat der Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung an der Universität Potsdam und Newton International Fellow der British Academy an der Universität Edinburgh. Seit 2020 ist er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im SFB „Medien der Kooperation“ an der Universität Siegen tätig.
