Elena Pilipets is a postdoctoral researcher in Digital Media and Methods at the University of Siegen (PhD in Media Studies, University of Klagenfut). Her research interests are centered on empirically investigating internet subcultures, with particular attention to the study of platforms through combinations of visual and digital methods. This currently includes online-grounded investigations of Internet memes, TikTok videos, cross-platform war propaganda, and online commenting. Elena likes experimenting with collaborative teaching formats such as data sprints and offers BA- and MA-level classes on digital methods, media theory, and visual culture.
