Markus Rohde, apl. Prof. Dr., studierte Psychologie und Soziologie an der Universität Bonn und ist Gründungsmitglied des Internationalen Instituts für Sozio-Informatik und Mitherausgeber des International Reports on Socio-Informatics (IRSI).

Seit 2004 arbeitet er als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Wirtschaftsinformatik und Neue Medien der Universität Siegen, seit 2008 als Bereichsleiter für Community Informatics.

Seit 1991 universitäre Forschung zu den Themen „Software-ergonomische Gestaltung vernetzter Systeme“ sowie „Organisations- und Technikentwicklung“; seit 1994 ehrenamtliche Arbeit als Redakteur der politikwissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschrift Forschungsjournal Neue Soziale Bewegungen; von 1994 bis 1997 freiberuflicher Organisationsberater und Dozent in der beruflicher Weiterbildung, Beratungstätigkeit für mittelständische Dienstleistungsunternehmen, Produktionsbetriebe und Nonprofit-Organisationen; von 1997 bis 2001 Geschäftsführer der AGENDA CONSULT GmbH; von 2002 bis 2004 Projektleiter am IISI.

In 2004 war er darüber hinaus als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Kompetenzzentrum Usability Engineering für das Fraunhofer Institut für Angewandte Informationstechnik (FhG-FIT) in Sankt Augustin tätig.

Anfang 2007 erwarb er einen Doktor in Information Systems an der Universität von Roskilde, Dänemark. Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), organisationales und kollaboratives Lernen, virtuelle Teams, Nichtregierungsorganisationen und (Neue) Soziale Bewegungen.
