Markus Rohde, apl. Prof. Dr., studied psychology and sociology at the University of Bonn and is a founding member of the International Institute for Socio-Informatics and co-editor of the International Report on Socio-Informatics (IRSI).
Since 2004 he has worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Information Systems and New Media at the University of Siegen, and since 2008 as head of the Community Informatics department.
Since 1991, university research on the topics of “software-ergonomic design of networked systems” and “organizational and technical development”; since 1994, voluntary work as editor of the political science journal Forschungsjournal Neue Soziale Bewegungen; from 1994 to 1997, freelance organizational consultant and lecturer in vocational training, consulting work for medium-sized service companies, production companies and non-profit organizations; from 1997 to 2001, managing director of AGENDA CONSULT GmbH; from 2002 to 2004, project manager at IISI.
In 2004, he also worked as a research assistant at the Usability Engineering Competence Center for the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FhG-FIT) in Sankt Augustin.
In early 2007 he received a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Roskilde, Denmark. His work focuses on Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), organizational and collaborative learning, virtual teams, non-governmental organizations and (new) social movements.
