Das Teilprojekt A03 untersucht wie die sensorgestützte und zunehmend autonome Navigation aktuelle Vorstellungen von Kartierung, Räumlichkeit, Autonomie und Bewegung rekonfiguriert. A03 führt zu diesem Zweck zwei Fallstudien (SLAM-basierte Indoor-Navigation und vernetzte Outdoor-Navigation autonomer Fahrzeuge) durch, die durch eine übergreifende Analyse zur Spezifizität von Sensormedien, ihren Infrastrukturen und Datenpraktiken ergänzt werden. Alle drei Arbeitspakete eröffnen die Frage nach dem Verhältnis von Raum- und Medienpraktiken auf neue Weise, da Medien und Sensoren Räume durchdringen und so die Programmierbarkeit von Raum, Bewegung und Kooperation ermöglichen. Ziel ist es, die für gegenwärtige Navigationsvorgänge charakteristische wechselseitige Verfertigung von Medien-, Daten- und Raumpraktiken mittels digitalen und ethnographischen Forschungsmethoden neu zu bestimmen. Die These des Teilprojekts lautet, dass dadurch eine Raum- und Medienpraktik primär als Datenpraktik erfahrbar und die Bedeutsamkeit klassischer raum- und medienbezogener Dichotomien wie indoor/outdoor oder online/offline relativiert wird.
